Mr. Chean Sophan has taken over the Sbek Thom troupe that was revived by the previous chairman and his grandfather, Mr. Ty Chean, and has continued to pass on the traditional performances of Sbek Thom to many people. He is also working hard to develop young people with the goal of passing them on to the next generation. He himself is an excellent performer of Sbek Thom, and his skill in creating the leather puppets he uses in his performances is amazing, captivating viewers.

Since 2011, the KDDI Foundation has been supporting the Ty Chean Troupe in order to succeed Sbek Thom, and we look forward to the troupe’s further success in the future.
