【Project Report】Project Final Workshop of “Research and Study for Improving Telecommunication Quality” in Lao P.D.R.

On January 12, 2024, the Project Final Workshop on “Improving Telecommunication Quality” was held at the National Convention Center in Vientiane, the capital of Lao P.D.R.
The event was hosted by Lao Telecommunications Regulatory Authority(LTRA), Ministry of Technology and Communications(MTC) to report the outcome of a one-year research project conducted by KDDI Foundation in collaboration with LTRA as a part of the International Collaborative Research of Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) founded by the Extra Budgetary Contribution of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications(MIC) of JAPAN.

The honorable Mr. Xayluxa INSISIENGMAY, Vice Minister of MTC, attended the event and stated, “Improving telecommunications quality is an urgent issue in promoting digital transformation in Lao, and we are very pleased that the results of this research are an important step forward in realizing a digital economy, government, and society.”
Japanese experts at KDDI Foundation received a certificate from the honorable Minister for its meritorious contribution to an improvement of technological capabilities of Lao. In addition, Mr. Soudchay LORLONESY, Director General of LTRA, Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of APT (video letter), and Ph.D. Shigehiro Ano, President of KDDI Foundation, stated about achievements, expectations, and challenges of this project.

The workshop, attended by over 60 governmental officials and University researchers, closed with a declaration from the project team to establish and promote a telecommunication quality management system of the Lao government while expanding the system developed this time.
